so you all want to hear some bullshit? apparently the omnimedia succubus that is clear channel has decided that the only real rock station in the bay area should now be in spanish. according to this article this has been in the works for the last month and a half or so. they stopped simulcasting ksjo in the north bay and now they have switched it over completely.

this is friggin ridiculous. this is the only station that plays real rock. live105 is garbage. yes, it plays some real rock though i refuse to believe any station that plays lovelines every night is worth anything. 104.9 is cool for what i like to call top 40 rock. they play stuff like maroon5, sum41 and other things of the like. its a good station, but they don’t play stuff like metallica or godsmack. if i’m half awake driving home from school, 104.9 is not going to keep me awake. i dunno, i hated clear channel before and i really hate them now. hell, the least they could’ve done is given a little warning. this afternoon i’m listening to rock on the way to school, tonight on the way home, i’m getting nothing but spanish. its a shame, its bullshit, and now i have to try to find another station for Preset #1 on my radio.

i know its been a while so i thought i’d take this brief moment of insomnia to give y’all a couple updates on what’s been up with me. for those of you that are lazy like me, i’ll give the quick summary: not a whole helluva lot. school. eat. sleep. repeat with occassional diversions.

now here’s the non-ADD version:

1. The Apprentice: i know i promised my diatribe on the apprentice a couple weeks ago, but i still don’t really know where to begin. here’s my assessment in a nutshell: lightning has not struck twice. last season, all the drama and conflict was to a certain extent unintentional unlike this year where i think they picked all the ripe ones off the bitch-bush. thogh the biggest difference (and the most disappointing) is that there is no one on the show this season that seems even remotely qualified to run a hot dog cart let alone a division of trump’s company. last season, there were a few standouts that really made for good competition. as far as i can tell, trump has bitched out every single person in the boardroom this season. which bring me to my next point, i’m sick of these commercials for the apprentice. every week is always “and then a boardroom first…” or “a boardroom you’ll be talking about tomorrow…” cut the crap and give us something worth watching. its so bad that i haven’t even bothered committing their names to memory.

2. The Life of the Party: so a friend of mine from college had a housewarming party last weekend for her new place in san francisco. it in the western addition which is a pretty nice neighborhood and i lucked out and found parking right in front of her building. i met the biggest downer at this party. i forget this guy’s name but good lord, for a guy that was drinking, he was amazingly uptight. first, someone brought twister and i figured as someone who probably shouldn’t be twisting in front of others, i’d offer my impartial law school abilities and spin the little arrow thing. so i’m holding it in my palm and spinning the arrow. this dude yells at me to place it on a flat surface and that my spinning is skewing the results–well sorrrry. i had no idea people took drunken twister so seriously. then, later, some of us are sitting around talking and out of nowhere he says that the modern jewish people are the result of 3,000 years of systematic rape–wow, i didn’t know what else to say so i apologized. i mean, what does one say to that?

3. School: so i’ve got the multistate ethics exam in about 3 weeks, a moot court problem to finish writing, finals in a little over a month, a presentation to put together for the american inns of court for november 17th and, of course, everyday reading and homework. and to top everything off, i register for classes tuesday so i have to decide what i want to take and then wait for the bill. i know, you’re all incredibly jealous and i can’t blame you.

anyway, that’s the update for today, there may be more later this weekend. we’ll see if i can stay sane long enough to make an entry.

so i just read that the FCC levied its largest fine ever against Fox for showing some sexually explicit scenes from bachelor/bachelorette parties on their show Married By America. apparently they felt the level of blurring on the strippers was not sufficient and that other “suggestive” portions were not edited out. unless its the simpsons, the sports or the local news, i never watch fox. i mean let’s be serious, its widely accepted that all fox programming, except for the three things i just mentioned, is pure crap. i mean, its the real lowest denominator kinda garbage and everyone knows this (especially fox though i’m sure they’d dispute that assessment).

apparently, this fine was motivated by a letter writing campaign from a group called the Parents Television Council. I don’t get political on this blog (well, not too often at least), but this group is one of the many crazed right-wing groups that think everything should be run by their puritan rules and unfortuantely they have the political clout to make that happen. i understand their cause (to end sex, violence and profanity on TV) and to a certain extent i agree with it, but flying off the handle about something they saw on fox? yes, i understand that kids watch tv and we can’t just let everything go on but what ever happened to parenting? what happened to the days when parents took responsibility for what their kids did and watched? when did this responsibility get pushed onto others?

we have ratings on everything (cd’s, video games, movies, tv shows, etc) and all new tv’s come equipped with v-chips that allow parents to block certain ratings. no one can say that weren’t warned or that they didn’t know. these ratings are as far as the industries should go, but these groups want the media to censor themselves which is crap. do they somehow think this will automaticaly result in kids growing up to be angels? hell, my parent’s wouldn’t let me watch cops or in living color when i was a kid yet here i am. there has to be a level of responsiblity taken on by the parents. everyone knows fox shows crap and if the parents don’t want their kids watching it, turn on the v-chip or tell them to go to their room. don’t pass the buck to someone else. that’s like saying “well, yeah, i let my kid watch CSI but its up to cbs to make sure they don’t show any blood or dead bodies so that my kid isn’t exposed to it.” what a load of bull.

like i said, i understand their point but they have to grow up and realize that the world can’t conform to their narrow views and maybe, just maybe, they’ll have to do some of the work themselves. as for me, i’m think i’m gonna save my outrage for wardrobe malfuctions on sesame street.

so i know i’ve been less than optimistic about my job prospects lately but i think i’ve finally found my calling:

Greatest Grilled Cheese Sandwich in America Contest

i’m hereby dedicating my life to become the leader of this fine organization. it will finally be an outlet for all my cheese related interests and talents. i wonder how i can spin law school on my resume to emphasize my grilled cheese qualifications…

so i have fall break for the next 5 days. good lord, i got so much stuff to do. classes to catch up on, moot court work to do, studying for teh damn mpre. i think these next 5 days off might be worse than actually going to class. but in an effort to start it on a good note, here are something of note:

did anyone hear about this: in-SPOT? its single-handedly the dumbest thing i’ve seen in a long time. send an anonymous e-card to people to tell them that you may have given them an std? i would avoid checking my e-mail just out of sheer terror. though, if i had to guess, i’d say this was the brainchild of those women in the valtrex commercials that talk about their herpes outbreaks. you notice how her testimonial about her outbreak is always accompanied by clips of her and her male companion riding horses or kayaking? i think he should be expecting one of these e-cards.

did anyone catch the vice presidential debate the other night? i’ll spare you all my political rant, but to summarize: i don’t think either of them won unless they are rewarding being petty, evasive and almost entirely irrelevant. but i digress, i was listening to KCBS wednesday morning and they interviewed a poli sci major from cal for her opinion on who won. her response: “i think edwards lost because he looks too young compared cheney.”….wow. i’m so glad i was passed over by cal so they could take this genius. who doesn’t look younger than cheney? hell, even dame edna looks more nubile. luckily, i’m not bitter.

so i was watching conan o’brien tonight and he had drew carey on. he’s apparently felt the need to bleach his hair. now, i’m not going to say what he looks like, but let’s just say it rhymes with frapist. that’s all i have to say about that.

finally, i went to the driving range today. me, andrew, craig, jenn and raj went before our 7:30 classes and i was giving people free lessons…on how not to play golf. keep in mind the last time i hit a golf ball with the intention of doing more than putting into a cup in my living room in davis, was 8th grade PE when they had us putting in 4″ high grass. andrew was nice enough to entrust his 6 iron to me and i missed my first few swings. however, i soon figured out that i was standing entirely too close to ball and i finally starting launching the ball–well launching it way off to the right. the next time i go, i’ll be working on hitting the ball straight. in all fairness, the next guy over was intimidating the hell out of me. he had a 20-point process for each hit. it was amusing just to watch him set up his shots and then very sad to see him launch one far and straight while i couldn’t do much more than skip mine along the ground. all in all it was pretty fun. who knows, maybe i’ll do better next time though now i want to buy my own clubs. we’ll see how that goes.

there was something else i had but i forget, oh well. i guess i’ll post it when i remember.
