sexy rick...drunk rick!wow…i mean really…wow. (i highly recommend you run your mouse over the picture)

now i’m not so vain as to think that i entertain a huge audience with this blog (or actually entertain anyone at all), but every now and then i get the distinct feeling some higher power is keeping tabs on it (someone other than donald rumsfeld). for example, not so long ago i offered my two cents about the general crappiness of all the recent pbs pledge drives.

for those of you that missed it, i basically just said that all the pledge drives that pbs has been doing are just marathons of crap. seriously, don’t ask me for money while showing 3 andre rieu concerts. its nothing personal. i love pbs, i just refuse to pay money to watch 9 hours of a pompous dutch violinst. at the time, i said that all i wanted was 6 hours of rick steves. alex even backed me up in the comments with: “I would watch Rick Steves for an entire weekend. Every weekend. It’s like I’m travelling, but I’m also sitting on my fat ass! And my companion is a genial Midwesterner of Swedish lineage! Woo!”

well, i’ll be damned if the pbs gods didn’t deliver. this weekend, they had 8 solid hours of rick steves on saturday and sunday. sure i didn’t watch all 16 hours and i didn’t even make a pledge but i’m glad to know that viewing needs of rickniks are not being lost in the fray.

right, so you’ve all heard my spiel about how everyone on the apprentice is a shmuck. this fact notwithstanding, i’ll reiterate: everyone on the apprentice is a shmuck. yet, i watch anyway. why you ask? because i, like any red-blooded indo-american, enjoy seeing shmucks fail. i mean, that’s what they’re here for right? for the entertainment pleaasure of non-shmucks.

so, in another “shocking boardroom first” on tonight’s apprentice, trump fired 4 people all at once. as usual, these people were at each others’ throats in the boardroom. each one yelling why someone else was shmuckier than them and why they didn’t deserve to be fired–pretty much par for the course.

so granted, i thought the four of them getting fired simultaneously was pretty funny, but the real hilarity came when they did their little perp walk out of trump tower. normally, its just the one person walking out the door and getting into a cab. this time, since there were 4 of them, i figured they’d get each person their own cab so each person could have their little rant as they get whisked away back to their lives of obscurity (and just a little bit of shame). oh, but in a “taxi cab ride first” they made all 4 of them cram into one cab. the 4 of them just finished trashing each other and now they all had to cram into the back seat of a cab. the irony was both palpable and comical. what does irony taste like you ask? like revenge…only sweeter.

this all being said, don’t get me started on the martha stewart apprentice. my sister has the season pass on the tivo and i’ve seen parts of episodes while she catches up on episodes. i can honestly say, i’m dumber for it. what the hell kind of “job interview” ends with the boss writing a letter to the peron they just fired? it so ridiculous, i’m joining in. here is what the letter should say:

“dear martha stewart shmuck,

i’m so sorry things did not work out for you. you showed great promise in your ability to suck up and be a lackey. however, you simply lacked the experience to brown nose at an executive level. i wish you great success in whatever job you can find after failing to sucessfully sell something as simple as salad dressing on national television. please don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out (it’s imported black oak).

sincerely,

right, so in response to chris’s comment on my last entry which i unknowingly de-spammed (we’ll talk about this later chris), i’m giving my blog some long overdue attention. for example, as i’m sure you’ve all noticed and care a great deal about, i finally updated to version 3.2 of movable type. unless i get carried away, you won’t really be noticing anything different. it has indeed been a long time and i’ve got a couple entry ideas in mind but no real inclination to make the entries right at this moment. i still have some technical stuff to take care of right now so maybe there’ll be a new entry at the end of all that. i dunno, we’ll see how that works out.
